Security & privacy

Your books are some of the most sensitive data you have. Here’s exactly what MorningSync can access, where your data goes, and how it’s protected.

What MorningSync can access

  • Read-only use. MorningSync reads reports and lists from QuickBooks Online. It never creates, edits or deletes anything in your books.
  • We never see your QuickBooks password. You sign in on Intuit's own page and approve the connection there.
  • One company only. Each account is locked to the QuickBooks company it was set up for. A connection to any other company is refused.

Where your data goes

Cloud storage

Your workbook is kept in a private Microsoft SharePoint folder, shared only with the people you name.

On your computer

The workbook is built when your computer asks for it and sent straight to it. It is not stored on our systems.
Either way, our servers keep only what’s needed to run the sync: your encrypted QuickBooks connection, your company’s name and Company ID, and when it last synced. They run on Microsoft Azure in the United States.

How it's protected

  • Encrypted connection keys. Your QuickBooks connection is stored in Microsoft Azure Key Vault, never on a laptop or in a file.
  • No stored service passwords. Our servers sign in to Microsoft services with managed identities rather than passwords that could leak.
  • Single-use links. Your connect link and your computer's installer link each work once and expire.
  • Protected on your PC. The sync helper's key is encrypted by Windows so only your user account can read it.
  • Encrypted in transit. Every connection uses HTTPS.
  • Limited staff access. Only named administrators can manage accounts, signing in with multi-factor authentication, and every action they take is logged.

You stay in control

  • Disconnect any time from Apps in QuickBooks, or ask us to. We revoke our access at Intuit and delete your stored connection the same day.
  • If your subscription ends, syncing stops. After 60 days we remove our access to your QuickBooks automatically.
  • Files already delivered stay yours: your workbook isn't deleted when you leave.
